Bratislava, May 22 (TASR) - Prime Minister Robert Fico's (Smer-SD) is in serious but stable condition in the wake of last week's shooting, F.D. Roosevelt Faculty Hospital in Banska Bystrica reported on Wednesday.
"Consilium physicians confirmed the merits of the existing treatment of the Prime minister, including all medical interventions. The patient is in serious but stable conditions for the time being," the hospital posted on a social network.
Fico was heavily injured by multiple gunshots fired by 71-year-old man after an away-from-home session of the government in the town of Handlova. The perpetrator has been taken into police custody by the Specialised Criminal Court.
